Austhai Marine continues to confirm its position as the leading series production boat builder in Thailand. With an ever increasing client base, a number of new model catamarans now in production, and continued infrastructure development, the growth is set to continue.

A particularly pleasing feature is the large number of repeat orders from existing customers, demonstrating that our customers appreciate the quality of the designs and builds and the after sales service offered by Austhai. More information about our current projects may be found on our blog

Austhai has now passed its 8th year of operation. Our success and growth during this period is largely due to the unstinting efforts of our dedicated staff, many of whom have been with us since inception and the unwavering support of our consultant architect, Dr Albert Nazarov of Albatross Marine Design and his team of professionals.

May 1st 2015 saw Austhai Marine celebrate its 10 year anniversary in its present location. The past ten years have been exciting and witnessed significant growth of the company. With the company now firmly established as the leading producer of fibreglass catamarans in Thailand, and an ever increasing range of models the future is bright.

Within the next few months the company will introduce its first monohull. For the past two years the company has been a major sponsor of, and a strong participant in Boat and Yacht Thailand, an organisation dedicated to improving the boating experience in Thailand, with particular emphasis on safety. Monohulls provide the majority of marine based tourism transport in Thailand, with local traditions and culture creating a strong preference for the locally designed and styled “speedboats”.

Unfortunately the designs incorporate few safety features and serious accidents occur regularly. Austhai has spent the last two years promoting safe design with little impact. The decision was therefore taken to introduce a monohull to our range, which has been designed and is being built to International Standards. The 47 foot monohull will be available in a number of configurations and with optional power trains, ranging from outboards to inboard diesels with either shaft or stern drive.

The year 2011 confirmed Austhai marine as the leading producer of production series fibreglass boats in Thailand with ten boats launched. This number included the first of our flagship model, the Austhai 1600. This model, operated by Blue World safaris, is currently operating in Phuket, Thailand, after a delivery trip bypassing Singapore and rounding Malaysia. See details of this boat on  ( www.blueworldsafaris.com )

The year also saw additional extensions to the factory and the commencement of work on a new 12.5 metre series. This series ( Austhai 1200 Series ) is now available in a number of different configurations. The design parameters include a split mould which enables the boat to be built with different beams, from 5.5 metres to 4.9 metres. Three boats are currently under construction, configured as day charter boats for operation in the tourist industry in Phuket Thailand, and a further two are on order.. Also currently on order are a ten metre ferry, a ten metre dive cat and an 8 metre rescue cat, all to be completed and launched during 2012.

We have also launched an industrial fibreglass division, which will manufacture general purpose fibreglass products. The first products from this division are a series of playground slides being manufactured for International Play Company of Canada. (www.internationalplayco.com )

With current forward orders straining our production capacity, further infrastructure development is now under way. We expect this development to be completed by September 2012 to increase our production capacity by 50%.

The 2010 year and the early part of this year have proven to be busy times for Austhai Marine. Recently completed extensions have doubles the size of our facility, and the climate controlled lamination room has also been extended to cater for increased production. A number of new models have been or are in the process of being introduced. Our local and export markets continue to expand. Two boats have been delivered to India, and boats are currently under construction for delivery to Vanuatu and the Philippines (2 ). Two new models are currently under construction, one an 8 metre Funcat and the other a 16 metre dive boat. Further new models will be released later in the year.

We are particularly proud of the fact that the two 8 metre wide body dive cats recently delivered to Barefoot Scuba in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands were delivered under their own power. The boats were sailed from Phuket on the west coast of Thailand to Port Blair in the Andaman Islands, a voyage of 420 miles of mainly open water. The boats were delivered by World Yachting, a Phuket based operation specializing in worldwide delivery of boats. ( www.worldyachting.biz )

Read Graham Harris report of the journey in our Customer Endorsements section.

As our business continues to grow we are having more and more customers wishing to upgrade to new and larger Austhai Boats. To cater for their needs we will shortly be introducing an online brokerage division to assist those customers in the sale of their existing boats. If you are interested in a quality second hand boat keep checking back to our website.

Power Catamarans, Twin hulls, Thailand CatamaransBoat magazines, uk magazines, Pattaya, Boat industryDespite their relatively narrow beam, these Catamarans provide a vast amount of room. Their performance and handling is a cross between that of a slim-hulled power cat and a conventional planing monohull.

With space and pace in abundance, they're an appealing alternative to boats such as the Arvors, Merry Fishers, Quicksilvers. As versatile, roomy, trailable, family-friendly dayboats and sporty weekenders, they should make their mark.
