10 year anniversary in its present location
May 1st 2015 saw Austhai Marine celebrate its 10 year anniversary in its present location. The past ten years have been exciting and witnessed significant growth of the company. With the company now firmly established as the leading producer of fiberglass catamarans in Thailand and an ever increasing range of models, the future is bright.
Within the next few months, the company will introduce its first monohull. For the past two years the company has been a major sponsor of, and a strong participant in, Boat and Yacht Thailand, an organization dedicated to improving the boating experience in Thailand, with particular emphasis on safety. Monohulls provide the majority of marine based tourism transport in Thailand, with local traditions and culture creating a strong preference for the locally designed and styled “speedboats”.
Unfortunately, the designs incorporate few safety features and serious accidents occur regularly. Austhai has spent the last two years promoting safe design with little impact. The decision was therefore taken to introduce a monohull to our range, which has been designed and is being built to International Standards. The 47 foot monohull will be available in a number of configurations and with optional power trains, ranging from outboards to inboard diesels with either shaft or stern drive.
The year 2011 confirmed Austhai marine as the leading producer of production series fiberglass boats in Thailand with ten boats launched. This number included the first of our flagship model, the Austhai 1600. This model, operated by Blue World safaris, is currently operating in Phuket, Thailand, after a delivery trip bypassing Singapore and rounding Malaysia. See details of this boat on ( www.blueworldsafaris.com ).
The year also saw additional extensions to the factory and the commencement of work on a new 12.5 meter series. This series ( Austhai 1200 Series ) is now available in a number of different configurations. The design parameters include a split mold which enables the boat to be built with different beams, from 5.5 meters to 4.9 meters. Three boats are currently under construction, configured as day charter boats for operation in the tourist industry in Phuket, Thailand, and a further two are on order. Also currently on order is a ten meter ferry, a ten meter dive cat and an 8 meter rescue cat, all to be completed and launched during 2012.
We have also launched an industrial fiberglass division, which will manufacture general purpose fiberglass products. The first products from this division are a series of playground slides being manufactured for International Play Company of Canada (www.internationalplayco.com ).
With current forward orders straining our production capacity, further infrastructure development is now under way. We expect this development to be completed by September 2012 to increase our production capacity by 50%.
